Is it appropriate to wear black to a wedding?

I'm going to a wedding this Saturday in San Diego. I will be 36+3weeks pregnant. A majority of the dresses in my closet are black and I really don't want to attempt to shop for something new to wear this late in my pregnancy. Is it more acceptable to wear black to a wedding these days??

I remember one of my friends wore a simple black dress to a wedding when she was 7 mos pregnant, and she just threw a really pretty kimono over top for a pop of colour!

It probably depends on the couple getting married and their feelings. Ask the bride how she feels.
My grandma has not let it go that my great grandma wore black to her wedding. She even had pics to prove it at her 60th anniversary party earlier this month.. lol.
But just ask the bride how she would feel about it, just to be safe.

Much more respectful to wear a black dress than a white one 😊 especially pregnant, black is discreet attire and keeps eyes on the bride

I've been to A TON of weddings & there are always people wearing black dresses. It's a common, elegant color for a dress. So go for it 😊

I always knew not to wear white but never heard that black was an issue until I saw it on here recently. I’ve worn black to many weddings and so have a lot of other people. Ive never felt inappropriate or out of place. Especially pregnant- wear what works and have fun.

As long as it’s not white or close to it, I think any dress color should be okay. If you are close with the bride, you could ask how she feels about you wearing that color if you’re worried about it?
