HELP ME! My baby refuses to breastfeed

My LO is 11 days old and we have yet to have a day where he has exclusively breastfed.

Unfortunately when he was born, he suffered from low blood sugar so we had to give him formula for premature babies. They had to come in and check his blood sugar before and after every feeding. So needless to say, he was introduced to bottle feeding immediately.

Luckily, we have been able to successfully breastfeed at least one feeding everyday since my milk came in. And every day we’ve been breastfeeding during more feedings. BUT the problem is that it seems that he chooses when he feels like doing it and when he doesn’t. He either latches on quickly with no frustration and feeds until he falls asleep, or he screams bloody murder/fights and I have to give him a bottle of breast milk. I’d say right now only one third to one half of his feedings are breastfed per day.

Has anyone else experienced this? And did it get better? What did you do/try?
