Paying for scans???

Ok mums to be or already mummas every scam I have been to I have had to pay at least $130 ?? Now I have medicare and always a bulk billing doctor but seem to be charged all the time.  Previous friend who have had babies have never had to pay . I'm going for my 20 week scan soon and just found out I have to pay for that too :( help is it just me

Call your insurance company to make sure they have the correct information. They wanted to charge me $700 for my 2 ultrasound I refused to pay a cent until  I talked to my insurance company turns out they had the wrong information and once it was sorted out I only owed $17.

I know that with my insurance, Tricare, they don’t like covering anything that isn’t medically necessary and so with my last pregnancy because I am in that high risk category because of my advanced maternal age, lol, and because of my daughters chromosomal abnormality the doctors wanted to do regular ultrasounds to monitor growth. But i really think it just depends how your doctors code it and if your insurance seems it necessary by their own criteria with regard to your medical condition at the time.

Well in Australia we hve medicare which is a bulk bill service so you can either go public or private.  Now public doesn't cost money neither does scans as I have had 2 free ones . But the last 3 have all cost :/

Definitely depends on the insurance because I have had three ultrasound so far and haven’t came out of pocket once and a third coming up.... probably depend on the state the insurance is in. I’m in VIRGINIA

It depends on the doctor and the insurance company. Plus, if it isn't one of the main scans, most insurance companies won't cover them, so if its an extra scan, that might be why.

It just depends on your insurance plan. Mine covers the first per pregnancy and then is covered at 80% after deductible. Some plans have no cost for prenatal care, some bill prenatal as regular, and some a mix of both.
