Who has the front seat you or MIL?

Question

Silly question but I'm wondering... When your mother in law is with you, do you take your place in the front seat or do you offer the seat to her as a sign of respect?

I got a little upset and maybe I'm overacting but it annoys me when she automatically takes her place in the front with my husband. I feel like that's my place and if I offer it to her then she should sit there.

What do you ladies think? Chime in!!!!!

Any older person MIL or any one older then me will automatically get offered the front seat out of respect it was the way I was raised respect your elders

I always open the door for her and let her sit up front. She's absolutely lovely, and raised one hell of a son. The least I can do is let her have the front seat in the car (though she will tell me she doesn't want it).

I offer for her to sit up front out of respect and common courtesy. Most of the time she declines and sits in the back.

My MIL will never be in my car so it's irrelevent. However if I did ever let her she'd be lucky if she wasn't put in the trunk..... I'm mostly kidding.....

If my husband is driving, my MIL refuses to let me sit in the back. I suppose it's one of the few nice things she does.
