I listen to a lot of slam poetry. Some girls I listen to talk about their sexual assault as a way to heal. I see men in the comments saying that she need to “get laid and get over it” I see them tell a girl who was almost crying as she talked about her triggers that “*trigger warning* you need to shut up because in the real world no one gives trigger warnings” this makes me sick to my stomach and I can’t understand why men are so disgusting and horrendous to women. I am a teenage girl that has grown up hearing about these things that happen to girls. I have heard men talk about them “just wanting attention” I do not understand the minds of horrible people. I wish I was still a child that could crawl under her blankets and feel safe from monsters. I wish people could still tell me that monsters were not real. Now I know that the worst monsters are the people around us. My heart goes out to these poor women and men that have been through the worst atrocities.
