Safe or SIDS risk, Crib bumpers?!

I read this article and I’m super curious to see what everyone’s take is on using crib bumpers? whether baby bumpers are unsafe or are they an unnecessary suffocation risk should the baby roll into it.

I COULD BE WRONG but I believe that SIDS happens when babies are in such a deep sleep that they forget to breath and they ultimately suffocate and die. For me personally I don’t understand how bumper pads are related to SIDS. I do find them a danger for suffocation though but not in the same way babies die of SIDS. I had a friend whose son died of SIDS and know someone who’s resuscitated their baby when they had stopped breathing in their sleep.

I used them after a year old because my son kept getting his legs stuck in the rails in the middle of the night. But I bought the mesh ones you can breathe through and he was also old enough to move around his crib easily. I definitely wouldn’t use them with infants.

There are so many things that can hurt your baby while sleeping now a days.... I used them with both mine, let them sleep on their swings, boppy, sometimes my arms.

Swaddling baby helps cuz he can’t move very much. However my 2 month old (born 41 weeks 3 days) is very wiggly and I caught him lying diagonal in his crib. Do not use bumpers
