Birth control & a high sex drive

Ever since I hit the puberty age my cycle has not been the best. It was all off track. When I turned 21 (3.31.94)  I decided to go the gym dr. The dr. put me on birth control. I've been on two different types. The type I'm on now is yaz, and my sex drive is through the roof? Is that normal. I've never been the one to want to have sex due to my religious beliefs, but I'm just goig crazy.
