Condom sex?

So I got my Kayleena IUD inserted back in March of this year. Me boyfriend and I always at least finish with a condom but is this necessary? I know no birth control is 100% effective but I’m still curious as I don’t know much about people getting pregnant with this IUD. Regardless we probably won’t finish without one as we both are not looking for kids right now but it’d be nice to know if there’s an option of not using a condom. Thank!

It's up to you. I have a question, if you had your tubes tied would you let him finish in you? Because an IUD is about the same effectiveness.

It’s really up to you, but the condom is for more than pregnancy. It’s to protect you from STIs and STDs pregnancy prevention is just and added bonus. Mirena just prevents pregnancy so in that matter they are tit for tat. But it’s up to you

It’s really up to you! I got my Mirena in May of 2017 and my husband and I have never used a condom since! I haven’t had a pregnancy scare either. My experience has been great so far, so if you feel comfortable without it, then go for it! 😊

The hormonal iud has a failure rate of 1/500. The only birth control that beats it is the arm implant which is 1/2000. I have the mirena and I haven’t used a condom since April. My mother is on her 5 mirena coil and the only kids she’s had are the two she’s actively tried to conceive off birth control. My doctor has never heard of anyone getting pregnant on the iud. No one I know has ever heard of anyone getting pregnant in the iud. It’s incredibly safe. The only reason to use condoms is if you’re having sex with people who haven’t been tested or you don’t know their sexual history
