Baby stopped growing?

Question

I had my 31 week antenatal check on Monday and they told me my baby is small and hasn’t grown since last check which was when I was 28 weeks.
They have me booked in for a growth scan this afternoon.
What’s the outcomes? Give me both positive and negative as I like to be fully mentally prepared.
I know I should wait until my scan until I think to much as the measurements could have been wrong but I need to know or I’ll drive myself insane.

Generally they worry about slow growth because it can mean a multitude of things, but most commonly they worry about placental failure - or the failure of the placenta to provide. Even knots in the umbilical cord can cause slow or stopped growth. 
If baby is not receiving what it needs from the placenta, it will not grow, and they will have to provide a steroid to mature the lungs and deliver much sooner than planned (and sometimes, as soon as possible).
