1st appointment question

Backstory... I’m not a new patient of my doctors. He was my obgyn before I was pregnant the first time, took care of me when I was pregnant with my daughter....

Anyway, got my positive and called his office to set up an appointment. The receptionist was telling me they do things differently now... he wants people in his office within a week from calling but we won’t be doing an ultrasound or anything testing. Sooo what is this appointment for? Does anyone else’s doctors do this?

Yeah I know, should’ve asked while I was on the phone with her but I just went with it and I’d feel a little silly calling back and asking now.
