Overreacting???

Question

So my husband works in the oilfeild and works 6 nights a week/12 hour shifts. Tonight is his 6th night and he just told me they asked him to work tomorrow night instead if it being his night off. I kind of had a meltdown and flipped out on him for agreeing to work on his day off. He thinks I'm being pyscho and is acting like I'm just being a selfish bitch.. So am I overreacting or no?
Edit: It's not like we're hard up for cash, we live very comfortably and don't have any worries about finances. Also, we're currently TTC and I don't want to go through a pregnancy alone when it happens for us. And if you're gonna be bitchy and rude, just go away ✌🏼✌🏼

You ARE overreacting, and just based off of that, there’s no way he’d want to change his mind now. You need to put yourself in his position and look at how unnecessary your tantrum was. Also, you’re not even pregnant yet, so saying you don’t want to go through it alone is a reach. All you can do is get over it and move forward, or sulk about it and make the both of you miserable.

Kind of.. I mean it makes sense that you want him home and you look forward to it, but you can’t be selfish either you know. It’s a tricky situation. Just be supportive, it sucks when your working and have problems at home and can’t do anything about it. Good luck

To me it would make more sense to work overtime now and save money for when you fall pregnant as he may need more time off then or even just to have the extra money when pregnant. 
Also unless you guys had something planned I don’t really see the harm in it, both me and my husband pick up extra hours or days at work sometimes without discussing it first as sometimes you’re put on the spot when asked.
Just talk to your husband and tell him your worry is that this will happen when you’re pregnant and see what he says.

Being upset is one thing, having a meltdown and flipping out is quite another...if you’re worried about being alone during pregnancy, talk to him about that but maybe he’s just preparing

Well I get it! My SO works all day everyday, sometimes he volunteers for Saturday which is his off day and I’m like come the fuck on...I barely see you during the week he works 430am-5 or 6 and has a hr drive home so sometimes he won’t get home till 7 and on late days he won’t get home until 9. He says the same thing to me that I’m being psycho which I probably am but I just want to spend time with him. Lol

I’d feel the same way. You just want him to be home with you who doesn’t want their husbands home? I’d let him know that you just want him to be around a little more and that you miss him.

I understand where your coming from but by the sounds of it I think you did over react. You should maybe just have explained that you miss him and was really looking forward to him coming home, you could even have lied and said you had planned something special for him coming home and then maybe he would have seen it from your point of view and wanted to come home (you would then have had to plan something 😂). Like someone said in a previous comment having a meltdown and getting mad would have just made him think he’s glad he isn’t coming home. I’m 20 weeks pregnant and my husband works shifts. Christmas production is just starting tomorrow so every second week my husband will be working 2pm-2am and then the alternate weeks working 4am-2pm. And the times he isn’t working he’ll be sleeping. He then decided to take on football on the Saturdays he isn’t working. I’ll need all the help I can get and I’m worried when we get further down the line he won’t be home to help me but I don’t want to make it an issue and make it out like he can’t do what he wants to do in his spare time (seeing as he will get so little) he knows how I feel though but there was no point on having an argument with him about it because it would just lead to more arguments! Bit of a rant (sorry 🙈!!)

I’d be upset too; maybe not meltdown upset but still upset. I also have a husband that works long hours at a second shift job when I work a day job. You look forward to spending time with them all week then they let you down by agreeing to work an extra shift when they don’t need to. I understand where you’re coming from. The meltdown was unnecessary, but I understand.

I would think he could have at least talked to you about it before he agreed to take the shift. I'd be upset too, but I would also feel like maybe I shouldn't be too upset. It's a good thing that he's such a hard working guy so maybe don't be so hard on him. If this is the worst thing he does then you're lucky! 😋 Just tell him next time you'd like for him to talk to you before he accepts to take an extra shift, you might have something you'd like to do with him.

I would be upset tbh, like you already barely spend any time with him and he’s already working on his day off.  Reminds me sometimes of my man. I work a lot of nights so I don’t see my man very often unless I have the day off but a lot of times he comes home plays games and then goes to bed so it’s like okay night 🙄
