Anyone taking Zofran?

So I haven’t had a proper appointment yet with my OB but I had a short intake appointment and I was prescribed Zofran for extreme nausea. She had said my insurance “probably” wouldn’t cover diclegis. I am super worried as I’ve taken 4 Zofran pills and honestly really need to today in order to be able to take care of my 16 month old. Is anyone else taking it? Worried about safety of it/birth defects? I’m going to be calling my office after lunch break to ask if they can try to send in an alternative like diclegis. My boyfriend doesn’t want me taking Zofran and honestly I’m pretty worried myself. I just need to be able to function 😰

Zofran is safe during pregnancy. Only thing is it makes you constipated

I took 8mg of Zofran in the morning and B6 at night. I was supposed to take it at night but found I could manage with just the morning. My husband was anxious about me taking it as well. I still had some nausea but wasn’t throwing up and could make it through the day. I started at 6wks and am going to try and see how I do off of it now that I’m about to be in my 2nd trimester. Keeping food down, making it to work and getting through the day we’re important to me so do what’s best for you. You’re the one with baby inside you and going through all the changes, not your partner!

Try a 50mg b6 and half a unisom tab . Supposed to be an alternative to diclegis

I suggest looking up scholarly articles regarding it. Studies show that the instances of clefts or other abnormalities on zofran aren't much higher than the normal instances without medications involved. I personally know two people who took it and their babies were born with clefts, so I personally choose not to. But studies show that wasn't likely the cause, it's just enough to scare me away.

I took it with my son up until 19 weeks because it was the only way I could function. I’m 8 weeks now and have took it the last week because it’s the only way I can work and take care of my 13 month old. My doctor just said only take it when I need it

My current OB doesn’t prescribe it, but i did take Zofran with my first and had no issues.

I mean I'll be honest. Things safe for pregnancy. Yeah don't read the paper with the medication. Lol it's not reassuring. I don't like taking medicine unless I seriously have to cause there is always risks. But there are more natural ways to help with nausea. Foods and drinks can help. Also accupressure points in your wrists help :)

I’ve been prescribed it and while I’ve only taken it twice, it works wonderfully. I was warned about headaches being the most complained about side effect, though. I did get a little ache but it was far more tolerable than the nausea I was feeling. I look at it this way, your doctor went to school for this job. By prescribing medication they have determined the benefits outweigh the risk. BUT! That doesn’t remove the responsibility of being an informed patient and advocate for your health. ☺️
