HUSBANDS MOM SOLD OUR CAR!!!! UPDATE #4
I need to vent. I'm upset and angry but handling it the mature way.
Some background info: my husband (24) and I (23) live together, pay for our own lives 1000000%. When my boyfriend was 19 he bought HIMSELF a car for $5,000. Nothing crazy but he worked hard for it, payed his own insurance and everything. His mom told him to put the title in her name because, well that's his mom and he was still living home, didn't really question it🤷 so he did everything through his moms name, but physically gave her the money for it. Ok so now is when it gets CRAZY! yesterday my hubby and i went out for the day and took my car, we get home to find his car moved positions in the driveway and the doors were unlocked, we were sketched out! We called his mom to see if she had been over (she has the spare keys to our house and car for emergencies) and she said yes, that she had to take pictures of the car....we asked why?? She said because she SOLD IT!!! WHAT??? WE THOUGHT SHE WAS JOKING!! She went in our fucking house, took the title (which had her name on it) and really sold it to someone for $7,000!!! (My hubby did ALOT of upgraded work to the car) she said she gave the money to my hubbys olders brother because he "needs it" in reality he is still living home and is full blown unemployed, we ask her if she was being serious and she said yes😡
My hubby demanded that she give us the phone number to the person she sold it to so we could explain, she didn't. We damanded that she give US the $7k so we can get a new car, she refused. Told us "it was our fault for not switching titles" my hubby said "I didn't know my mother would ever do this to me" she stopped answering all our calls and texts so guess what?? I'm going to the police🤷🤷🤷 sorry NOT sorry! We aren't rich we can't just buy a new car!! He's been taking care of that car for so long FOR A REASON!! so that we don't have to buy a new car before we're ready. I'm so stressed and also feel guilty for bringing the police involved but what else am i supposed to do? Apparently the person thinks they are picking the car up tomorrow, OH and she has the keys so like WTFFFF DO I DO???
EDIT: thank you guys for the comments, once i settled down and cooled off, i realized the police really won't do much, y'all right!! The most i can do is just cut her off 🙄🤬 for everyone saying he should've switched the title, it's been on his "to-do" list for a while now😂 but he didn't rush because he didn't realize his own mother would ever do something like that 🤷
On an unrelated topic, i need a small loan of $5k anyone? LOL I'M KIDDING!!😂 I cope using humor🙂
UPDATE - so it's been 3 days and we decided to just take the loss of the car, we are going to TRY and file at small claims court to get at least $5k back. Wish us luck y'all lol♥️ thank you guys for the comments ♥️
UPDATE #2 - company coming today to change the locks!! Filed a report, or "claim" and waiting to hear back🤞 some of y'all comments are funny 😂! I thinking about gutting the whole car! Lmao but i want to stay on the right side and keep her on the baddddddd side!
UPDATE #3- We are going through with the small claims case! We have messages proving everything so they said it shouldn't be TOO hard. We will probably end up getting $5k, since that's what my boyfriend paid for it. But she will be getting charged with fines (not sure what yet) will keep everyone updated! Idk how long this process will take, I've never done this before. on top of all that, we cut full contact as well.
UPDATE #4- thank you again for all the supporting comments!! So we're still waiting for everything to go through small claims, i would love to ask for more money but they said since my boyfriend bought ot for $5k that's what our claim will be for. That's okay though! Making some progress and I'll keep y'all updated! Haven't talked to MIL since 😅
