Prevent yeast infections during pregnancy

So... TMI but I went to the obgyn today for my first prenatal appointment (8 weeks) and when she did my pap she told me I have a yeast infection. Asked me if I’ve had any symptoms I said no and that I’d never had one before so didn’t really know about it too much. She told me I could take Monistat over the counter but since I have no symptoms I could just let it be. Anything I can do to get rid of it without the monistat or to prevent them later on?
