In-laws Rant

I'm gonna sum this up the best I can, hang in there with me lol. So my SO and I just celebrated our first (and only, he's getting the snip) child's first birthday yesterday. We actually did a combo party for her and my baby brother, they're two weeks apart and my mom and step dad have a rather large home/plot that's a hell of a lot cheaper to host a party at than rent some place. Everyone came and had a blast, out of town family came and everything. Everyone except my SO's ENTIRE side of the family that is. They live literally 10 minutes up the road and made zero effort to even acknowledge her birthday. Her great grandmother on his side constantly complains about not seeing her enough then just completely blows off every attempt we make at seeing them, but this just really really pissed me off. Like my grandmother lives six hours away but still made sure she was here AND my dad lives almost seven hours away but came down last weekend to see her because he wouldn't be able to make it to the party. His grandmother texted him earlier and said she'd mail Linley her gift, he told her to not even bother and left it at that because he's obviously hurt. We don't want, or need, shit from them, we just want them to be apart of her life for fucks sake! They bend over backwards for his cousins and their children, but pretend like his little girl doesn't exist. THEN they had the nerve to ask him for our address to send us an invite to his cousin's kid's party next week, like he threw his phone down on the counter and said to me he just wanted nothing to do with any of them anymore. Are we wrong for being bent? Vent over lol
