I don't think I can be any more confused

I feel like either the LH tests are defective or I am. I'm on Cycle Day 23 and still no signs of ovulation except for CM and cramping mid cycle. I had a darkish negative but not a surge on CD 14. I typically have long cycles like 35 to 40 days which is why I started using LH strips to monitor ovulation. I test at about the same time every day and don't drink liquids for about 2 hours before testing so I don't believe its a diluted urine sample issue. And it is possible that I just haven't ovulated but I've had the egg white CM and cramping. Any one have any ideas of what is going on?
