Vitex did not work for me. I mean, itdid. But it didn't. I had normal cycles, every 26 days. Had an average 9 day luteal phase. I read Vitex would help with that. Even with tall the pros going on in conversation stating Vitex takes 3+ months to work, it "changed* me. I started taking it the day my period stopped on October 5th. I had ANOTHER period on the 17th. Prior to starting the second period of October which was WAY abnormal,I was cramping and bloated so bad it was painful! I was an emotional wreck from being high and happy to low and in the dark, not to mention I was very very fatigued and I became snappy towards my family, friends and co-workers. I stopped taking the Vitex and switched back to Maca Root and Super Vitamin B complex with a daily prenatal. I am back to being happy, focused, energized and fun loving. After a lot of research and contacting an infertility herbalist, I found out that women WITH regular cycles and SHORT luteal phases shouldn't be take Vitex because it acts on the Endo system, not the reproductive system. Vitex does support hormonal balances, but if you are already regular, why change that? The imbalances will cause a regular cycle to shift and cause an improper balance that can take months to rebalance. Why take a step back in the ttc process by starting over with restarting new cycles. If it's not broke, why fix it type of thing. That is my personal experience with Vitex. As for the short LP, drops in progesterone and the I'm balance of the estrogen may be an underlying medical condition like having an estrogen dominant reception. Better to get checked out and tested first and THEN make an informed decision how you want to proceed.
