Did your doctor order a blood test to confirm your pregnancy?

I had a miscarriage in July, and my doctor said to just call up next time I get a positive test and she will order a blood test to confirm the pregnancy is progressing. So today, I called up the office and the front desk lady said they “don’t really do that” and I had to explain about my miscarriage to get her to leave a message for the doctor.
Now I’m feeling down about having had to explain it and I don’t see why she couldn’t just leave a message for the doctor. 😞 I’m excited about having my BFP just nervous this time around, and I guess I anticipated the call to go differently. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Anyone have experience requesting blood draws for this?

I miscarried in June and they said to call for blood work. I think that it’s really shitty you had explain your situation just to get her to leave a message for the doctor. I said that the doctor told me blood work for my next confirmed pregnancy via home test. And they were like okay we’ll leave a message.

My doctor ordered it because of my miscarriage in May. I did a draw at 4+1 and 4+3 and it more than doubled so I’m scheduled for an early ultrasound on November 12th when I’ll be 6+4. I hope you’re able to get your blood drawn and an early ultrasound also! It really made me feel better to see such high numbers and to see it more than double. Can’t wait for the ultrasound!! 🌈👶🏻

The reason I had blood work this weekend was because I went in with what I thought was a UTI, they tested my blood and urine and confirmed I’m actually pregnant, I don’t have a UTI.

My first pregnancy I got a blood test bc my insurance required a referral and I didn’t have an OB yet so I got a blood test at PCP to confirm,
This time I just called my ob office to see what to do after my BFP and they had me come in for a blood test, told me it was positive 20 min later and scheduled appts for 8w and 10w. The 8w ultrasound was optional and wasn’t offered when I was pregnant in 2016 but it’s scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving so potentially would like to tell husband’s immediate family after that Appt (I already told my sister and parents but didn’t want to tell in laws yet).

I haven’t called my doctor yet, but I’m assuming they’ll order bloodwork when I do call, because I had a miscarriage in August and I want to make sure my numbers are good.

I totally get you! I miscarried in May, I caller my doctors office and she booked an appointment for 5-6 weeks time putting me at 11 weeks.  (This was last Thursday).
I miscarried at 10 weeks 4 days but baby stopped growing at 6 weeks.. for the last few days I have stewed on the no bloodwork and called this morning to request to have my hcg and progesterone checked, I had a req faxed to work within 30 minutes.

The only reason they’re confirming mine is because I’m 4 months PP and never got a period so they’re confirming my pregnancy and dating it.
My first pregnancy they just took my word for it that I had a positive home test and they said they don’t find it necessary to confirm pregnancies unless there’s suspicion something is wrong or you have a history of ectopic/chemical pregnancies.
