Am I wrong?

So my mother n law has this thing where she wants all of her granddaughters middle names to be hers. She has about 9 right now and all of them have her middle name. I chose not to follow the trend with my first daughter because I felt it was ridiculous especially considering the fact that I have a mother to name after also. Anyways I'm pregnant with another girl and since I didn't do it to my first she has completely treated me different. I don't think I want to do it this time either. Am I wrong for this? I believe in originality and what purpose is 12 kids running around with the same name and they are all family? I hate that we don't have much of a relationship because of this issue.
