Husbands feeding?

Have any of your husbands insist they feed baby if you are EBF?  I'm trying to get down to the bottom of his request, but I don't think it's the wisest thing to give the baby a bottle here and there just so he can feed? Nipple confusion? There are tons of things he can do with baby besides feed.  Any other momma's out there had any experience with with?

I did it to help them bond. The only time my son would get a bottle was if his Dad gave it to him. Nipple confusion never occurred & we breastfed for his entire first year.

In our home,  mama does feeds, no one else unless mama is totally unavailable. Usually if dad is asking to feed,  they're feeling like they're not bonding. So find a way for them to bond! We use bath time. I've given my son a bath once in almost 10 months! If you need some you time, maybe they can go on a walk together

I pumped/nursed my daughter so that my husband could also feed her. We’ll be doing it again this time around.

Coming from a mama who has breastfed 3 outta 4 of my youngins if you wait to long in my case 2 months was to long to introduce a bottle every now and again they will not take one. I had to be present at all times in case my baby got hungry. I loved ebf but I never could leave my baby anywhere not even with their dad until they got old enuf to understand how to use a sippy cup. It's not going to cause nipple confusion to give one every now and again and why deny him an opportunity every once and a while to feed his baby too... after all he is the dad. The only nipple confusion mine had was when I tried to introduce a bottle and they were like wtf is this thing.... where is my boobie at...

The only times he gives a bottle is if I’m not home to nurse, and a few random times when my son was super fussy and refused to nurse. If he gives a bottle you have to pump - you still have to remove some milk, so I think it’s easier just to nurse.

I almost exclusively breastfed; only occasionally pumped to let my husband feed the baby for his enjoyment. I hated pumping and saw it as more effort for a feeding than simply offering a nipple. Especially when I was overtired, I dreaded needing to clean the bottles and pump equipment immediately. But I did it because my husband wanted to. He got joy from feeling that he was able to help, bonding time with the baby, and I loved watching his face light up as he held our son close and smiled down at him.
Put yourself in his shoes. That's his baby as well. If he wants to help with a feeding then he should be able to. Be glad that he wants to be more involved with the baby. Just because there are other ways he can care for and bond with the baby doesn't make feedings any less special. No experience is going to be an exact equivalent. Think about it. Is it really worth alienating him over, or better to share the experience of getting to feed your little one? I can't imagine that if you really think about it, you wouldn't agree that your husband is worth a simple pump session if there isn't any reason you can't pump or can't get milk that way. If you're really worried about nipple confusion, check with your pediatrician on when and how often to introduce bottles. It's not impossible. Best of luck, whichever route you go.

My boys do both bottle and breast. Never had nipple confusion. My husband wanted to bond which was not a problem. I was more then happy to let him bond with our twins.

My son sometimes likes to feed my baby. Baby is 4 months old and has had a few bottles with no confusion.

My husband gives a pumped bottle at bedtime to our son so that I can do bedtime with our daughter.. honestly it’s extra work, but I am trying to make bedtime easier for everyone. I don’t think it is fair for him to demand it though, since it is more work for you, not him
