After the baby is born what happens next?

Do they put the baby onto your boob to start nursing it? I’m just curious I’ve seen this done lots of times in youtube birth videos and what not. I hope this doesn’t sound bad but I really don’t want that to be completely honest. I plan on exclusively pumping and supplements with formula, breastfeeding just isn’t my cup of tea 😬 is this something you ask for in advance or is it something most hospitals do automatically?

I had a scheduled c section and as I was getting prepped they asked our plans for feeding. I'm in the same boat as you, breastfeeding was not something I was ever interested in (also due to my super anemia and constant low protein levels, but I digress) and told the nurses we were doing formula. After the procedure and baby was all cleaned up, checked up on, and out of his 20 minute NICU stay we did skin to skin. No one pressured me to breastfeed and I never had to talk to a lactation consultant in case I wanted to "give it a try", though a couple nurses were lowkey judgmental 🤷‍♀️

You can let them know what your plan is for feeding the baby. They would probably put baby on you for skin to skin but usually want to start feeding, so you can tell them you don’t want to breastfeed and go from there. (I’m guessing) you can wear a sports bra, and still do skin to skin, baby just won’t go to breast 🙂 that’s what I plan on doing for baby #2 🙂 letting them know when I go in for my c section

My hospital do skin to skin for 1 hour and do delayed cord clamping for 3 minutes, cut the cord during skin to skin

I held him for a minute or so, they took him and weighed home and checked him then gave him back. it wasn't till later did he get hungry

Definitely schedule a hospital tour where you plan to give birth so you can ask these questions (though they may tell you before you even have to ask)! When I gave birth, they asked while I was in labor if I wanted to breast or bottle feed and if I wanted her placed on my chest (for skin to skin) right away (which I did). They were able to do most of my daughter’s exams while she was right on me which was nice. :) I was so focused on baby, that I have no memory of my placenta being delivered lol. I think every hospital is a little different, but they’ll definitely accommodate whatever you request in terms of feeding and immediate skin to skin

They will ask u before u have the baby what u want. They always lay the baby on I while the cord is cut. Then if u want they will baby on ur chest for skin to skin and u can either breastfeed then or not. If u don’t want to do skin to skin u don’t have to. I did it with my last two and I didn’t breastfeed. I didn’t do it with my first 2 it’s completely up to u. But they always ask u a few times what u want so just let them know.

They did with my last she was on me for an hour before I put her down, It was very exhausting but breastfeeding straight after cannhelp with the healing process and also weight loss and stomach muscle tightening ect so it can be very beneficial, but I’m also not a huge fan of breastfeeding it had its issues with both babies and became to much to handle when we started using the bottle almost all our issues went away,

I’ve never been pressured or pushed to breast feed after birth! 
When you go in you tell them what your plans are. They’ll have formula ready after baby is cleaned off and all health checks are performed
