What does labour feel like?

I’ve been having a sharp pain that comes and goes in my lower abdomen like below my belly that wraps around my hips and lower back. Lasts about 20-30 seconds. I have no idea what labour feels like, I’ve read your belly tightens but my belly feels tight always. I’m so scared I’m not going to know until it’s too late ! I haven’t had any Braxton Hicks that I know of. Just menstrual like cramping but I’ve had that my whole pregnancy.

You will know when you feel really contractions! It hurts 20 times worse than cramps! When I had them I about squeezed  my husbands hands off they were so intense!

You’ll know when it gets real. It’s extremely rare for you not to be able to tell... what you’re feeling may be the start.

It starts as light cramping, then it gets to be longer cramps, then harder cramps. They happen for more than an hour and they will never stop until baby comes out. Try drinking some water and changing how you're sitting, or walk around for a few minutes. If nothing stops the cramping, it's probably real contractions. How far along are you?

Contractions are at least 40 seconds long. It could always be a start of something, but my nurse told me they didn’t count if they were less than that.
