When to test?

My husband and I have been ttc baby #2 for about four or five months. With our first it took three months and I took my test and got a positive on my expected first day of my period.

For your own experience, how worth it is to test early? Is it just a waste of pregnancy tests?

I’m expecting my period this Friday, or at the latest on Saturday. Would you test before then? If so, how early? Or is it best to just wait?
