Tampons

Hello all. So I’m a new tampon wearer and because of that I decided to start with a light one. So I put it in without any issues and couldn’t feel it at all so I knew I was good. I also wore a pad just in case. Well it’s been about three hours and I checked and I had a little bit of blood on the pad so I’m assuming the tampon is full and I should change it. But trying to take it out, it hurts a lot. So I’m just confused if it is full, then why is it hurting to take out. Or if it’s not full, why am I leaking?
