Is others kissing your newborn an issue for you?

I’ve been reading/hearing about people who have a herpes virus kissing babies & babies getting really ill. I’m a little nervous by this. Can anyone share their views on this and if it’s necessary to set rules on family & even the parents of the newborn?

The herpes virus isn’t like genital herpes it’s cold sores  And people who have it don’t always have symptoms or a cold sore.

Anyone kissing my kids other than me and hubby drives me insane. Even we don’t kiss her on the mouth and kissing newborns is an even bigger deal for me!! My family is great about this but hubby’s is horrible. They come around when sick, kiss, will feed my daughter with their fork/spoon or whatever and it makes me rage!!! I’m trying to find a good way to make it known there should be NO kissing of this baby when she’s born AND if you’re sick then STAY AWAY!!!

My daughter died at 18 days old due to Hsv type 1 in January. Just be aware & super careful. Even though they think most people have Hsv not everyone does or knows they do. It lays dormant & may never appear.

I’ll be keeping mittens on my baby while we’re around others for as long as I can. For some reason people in my area think it’s ok to kiss on the hands & arms but not the face. THEY PUT THEIR HANDS IN THEIR MOUTH. 😡Anyway, it’s a big pet peeve of mine so I’ll definitely be letting people know it’s not acceptable. 😇

I won’t even kiss my newborn on the mouth, anyone could carry that virus and not know it! I will make it known when my son gets here that there will be NO kissing him, and if they do they will be asked to leave

I don’t want random stuff kissing my baby but my mom and dad are definitely allowed to kiss my baby I have a 9 year old and a 6 year old and I was never that type of mom to tell my own parents they can’t kiss my baby they definitely was allowed and guess what ? I have happy and healthy 9 and 6 year old sons some mothers are to damn over bearing yet it’s their baby who is constantly sick 🤦🏽‍♀️

I have been stressing about this too. How long after the birth do you wait until allowing people to kiss the baby?
I think I am going to bring the rule in for my bub. But I just wonder how long is it a threat?

I am not to shy to tell anyone not to kiss my newborn.. a simple kiss can kill a baby!

Nobody is allowed to kiss our baby. Top of the head for family and close friends, totally fine. Face and hands, no fucking chance! I’m just flat out going to tell people not to, and if they do, they’ve lost their baby privileges. Simple as that!
