Postponed Ivf cycle

My husband and I have been trying to convince for 3 1/2 years and I have a daughter from a previous relationship. Due to unexplained male factor we have to do Ivf as our only option to have a biologically child. Our funded cycle officially started yesterday and today I get a call stating that we have to postpone the cycle because there’s no sperm in semen and have to do TESE to get sperm for the cycle. We’re absolutely devastated and blindsided as we were never told about this possibility.

Anyone else have this occur and still have a successful cycle?
