When to get off the pill? TTC after holidays

I have been on my birth control pill for 10 years now. My husband and I want to try for our first baby after the holidays.  I was really hoping I'd get pregnant RIGHT away. I know so many woman in my family  (and even friends) who got pregnant within a week of stopping their pill. So am I safe to stop my pill after xmas with the hope of getting pregnant in January..or should I be getting off the pill now ??

I got off the pill and 10 months later, I still hadn’t conceived. All the women in my family got pregnant the first month of ttc, my mom even got pregnant at 39 from missing a pill! Most of my cousins had unplanned pregnancies when they were not even trying! I have 17 aunts and uncles and over 70 1st and 2nd cousins! My family is the definition of fertile.
So naturally, I was really disappointed when it wasn’t happening. I would just try to remind myself to have realistic expectations. It takes a healthy couple 6-12 months to conceive. It starts feeling REALLY long after month 3, so just get off the pill and enjoy BDing!
I was over 35, so I decided to try IUI rather than wait a full year to conceive. All of our tests came back fertile / normal and IUI worked on the first cycle! Turns out I was fertile, just not on the same timeline as every other woman in my family. Sending you baby dust!

I was on the pill for 10+ years too and it took us until month 5 of trying to conceive. Your body takes a month or two to get back on track. (Period wise) itll be irregular at first. I would get off after your next period. Just dont start the next month.
