Disrespectful Boyfriend

I have been in a serious relationship with my boyfriend for a year. He’s talked disrespectfully talked about my family to me twice & it’s hurt me so much. I finally confronted him about it today because I just can’t stand it anymore!!!!

What should I do? I sometimes have thoughts about leaving him. And today he told me “I’m faithful to you & I try to be the best boyfriend I can be”. Sometimes I feel his best is not enough... We’re both in college.
