I work pretty closely with local politicians to try to mitigate racial disparities in our local school systems. To me, one of the biggest things that needs to happen is converting the integration system we have in so many districts to a community schools based model. If we fully fund supporting programs tailored to the communities the school is serving, there's no reason to believe that the integration/bussing model is superior, it's more expensive and breaks up communities.

I also think that we should put kids first, rather than school staff, which often happens. I think that we should cut teachers less slack in terms of lack of respect for students and families, and more slack in terms of student grades and progress

In the long term, federally, I think there should be normalization of school curriculum and school amenities and support staff, so every public school has things like a receptionist, a nurse, etc, and teach basic subjects. I think there should be a national teachers union to update this yearly.
