Cultural diversity in traditions

Hi everyone! I am from Belgium, Europe. During the course of my pregnancy I noticed some differences between Belgium (Europe) and the United States (or at least the gorgeous mummies posting here). First of all, I saw some of you telling your husband you are pregnant in a super romantic way! I kind of liked it, but here I think couples are quite accustomed to doing the test and finding out together. But after that, the (Belgian) couple often keeps the pregnancy ‘their secret’ for the first 3 months. (Until they are more sure that everything is alright with the baby? I never thought about the reason why, until I saw couples here doing things differently.) Also, in Belgium, the gender and name of the baby more often than not both stay a secret between mum and dad until the baby is born!!!

I just wanted to share this with you, because I (un)learn a lot here! The stories you share about how things can be done differently, make me think more about what I and my husband really want instead of just following our costums...

Thank you so much for sharing so open-heartedly, and good luck to each and every one of you... with everything!
