Baby right after college?

My husband and I have been talking about when we want to have kids recently. We have been married for 3 years, we are financially stable, planning to buy a home at the beginning of 2019, etc. I don’t work right now because I am going to school full time, but my husband already has his degree and has a great job.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about whether or not it would be a good idea to go ahead and have a baby after I’m done with school? Basically the two main things I wanted to have before having kids was my degree and our own home. I do want to have a career, but when my kid(s) are young I want to stay home with them. Thinking about it, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to jump into a career and then quit. I would eventually work, but it would be when my kid(s) start school (or maybe preschool). I only have one semester left of school (graduating in May), and ideally I would want to wait to TTC until at least the end of next year if we decided to do it this way.

What is everyone’s thoughts about this? I’d like to hear from some people who have gone through similar things or just other thoughts in general. Does it seem like a good idea to go ahead and have kids first or would you recommend working a little bit first?
