vaginal (inside and out) dryness

do any of you get any dryness in your vagina or on your outer vaginal area? I've had it off and on for a few months and it's so annoying I get really itchy and it hurts when I wipe after gong to the bathroom sometimes. Is there anything I can do? I went to my gyno a few months ago for a few other reasons and I asked if that was because of my birth control and she said no and didn't really say much of it. After that I got a test to see if I had any infections and I didn't so I don't quite know what to do now.
