Experiences on different forms of contraception

Christina

I have been on two forms of birth control since I was 15, the first being the implant which I kept right up until 6 months ago as I had not had regular periods in 5 years.

I can’t say I experienced any worrying symptoms on the implant except my periods would be very unpredictable.

I decided I would try the pill and was given Rigevidon, all seemed fine for the first month until I started experiencing pains in my ovary area, I lost my sex drive and when I took my pill break after 21 days my periods were almost black in colour.

I went to the doctor to explain my symptoms and was told I should continue taking the pill and because I’m not yet trying for a baby my pains are not a major worry, she instead took tests for STI’s and said I would have to wait 7 weeks for an ultrasound.

I ignored the doctors advice and after my withdrawal bleed have not continued taking my pill. It has been a week and the pains in my ovary area have lessened, I have lost weight, I feel a lot better in myself mentally and happy to say my sex drive is back 🙏🏼

I have had unprotected sex on days no where near my expected ovulation but me and my partner have agreed if I fall pregnant we would embrace it.

Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms on this pill or any other form of birth control? Would be interesting to hear from you.
