You should come to a compromise. Tell close family (like moms & dads) now, and then everyone else at christmas. It's not just your kid, and you're not the only one who has to go through the emotions. I'm sorry that you went through a loss, but he did too.

I’ve never been pregnant so my opinion probably isn’t valid here, but I feel like it depends. If the baby’s father is stressed over it and needs somebody to vent to, he should be able to tell a close friend so he has somebody to discuss it with. But when it comes to a full-blown announcement for everybody, both parents need to be on the same page.

Both parties need to be adults and come to an agreement. However, I tend to support the more private partner.

This seems to fall under your body your choice, if you can’t come to an agreement.

Whoever wants to wait the longest.. if one person isn’t comfortable to tell people yet, the other should respect that and wait.

I feel like if you can’t agree, it should be done at 12 weeks or so. That seems “fair” to me.

My husband and I couldn’t decide so we decided he had the right to tell his family whenever he wanted and I had the right to tell my family whenever I wanted. Seems the most fair.

I think in this case, you should have the final say. God forbid you have another loss, you’re the one whose physically going to have to bear the brunt of that. I understand it’s his child and he’ll need support, but in a different way. And right now you’re the one whose sick.

I don’t think it’s a decision that one or the other makes alone. Like adults, I would hope that the two of them would be able to come up with a compromise.
