One major goal I have in life is to become as zero waste as possible! I hate thinking that me being lazy and choosing convenience over the environment can lead to the deterioration of the earth :(

Essentially you buy only what you need recycle or use things that can go into your compost pile that you may have not been able to use and cut down on things that would be thrown in the trash example:
Instead of buying diapers you throw away.. but washable diapers
Instead of using the plastic bags at the grocery store you bring your own.. and make sure the containers are recyclable
If you bought some veggies and some went bad because you forgot to use them you put them in compost and use the compost for your garden. 
Catch rain water and use that to water your plants instead of using water from the hose
