My dog killed my other dog
I heard my mom scream “Oh no! Oh no oh no!” And then the door to our deck slam. Then my dad ran downstairs and then my little brother. I was naked out the shower so I quickly threw on clothes and went downstairs. I could see my mom and brother crying through the window. My little brother came inside sobbing and I asked him what happened. “Autumn (our Vizsla) bit Muffin (yorkie) and her intestines are coming out.” My dad opens the door to ask us to grab another towel. Muffin sees the door open and squirms out of the towel they’ve already tried to wrap her in. And then I saw it. Two intestines hanging out her side and she was screaming and bleeding. My dad knew he had to hold her so more wouldn’t come out but she had them hanging out both sides and we didn’t want to hurt her more. We had to wrap her in two towels tight enough to keep her still but loose enough to not do more damage. She just kept crying. The emergency vet was 20 minutes away but we couldn’t wait around. There was nothing we could do to stop her pain at our house and no humane way to kill her. She endured the drive and had to be euthanized. I can’t unsee it and I only saw a few seconds. I’m so sad she had to die so horribly. We always knew the dogs would die one day but we didn’t expect her to have such a cruel painful death. And now we have to have our other dog evaluated. I don’t know how to look at Autumn the same way.
