When do drs start checking cervix?

So this is my 3rd pregnancy but I have a horrible horrible memory for non significant details lol but I’m curious when everyone’s drs start to check their cervix? Or if a second time mom remembers when they started with their first? Lol I wanna try and make sure the downstairs isn’t looking so wild before I got drs all up in my shit 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I got checked at 35 weeks with my first, and I’m glad they did check me because I was already 3cm dilated. So they wanted to keep checking me every week or two to make sure I didn’t keep dilated. Sometimes it IS necessary. So. 🙄

It's completely unnecessary to have your cervix checked unless you're in labour, need to be induced or are showing signs of preterm labour. Alot of providers aren't checking them during routine appointments anymore because it's a completely unnecessary and often uncomfortable procedure.

Mine starts at 35 weeks, but I recently got it checked at 32 weeks bc my contractions were 7mins apart from a bad UTI. Let's just say I'd rather them just wait a bit longer lol.

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow and thank God they've left well enough alone. I see no reason to check if you're having zero signs of preterm labor.

Not all providers do because it’s not a good indicator of when labor will start. You can walk around dilated to a 4 for weeks, or go from nothing to fully dilated in an hours time. I spoke with a provider a few weeks ago who had a patient that was dilated to an 8 (!!!!) without being in labor for several weeks before she actually went into labor.

I was wondering this too. Some women are commenting they are only 29 or 30 weeks and x amount dilated. My doctor doesn’t do it until 34 or 36 weeks I think (can’t remember). My girl is still breech so I’m hoping I’m at a zero until she flips her butt over.

For this pregnancy, my doctor started around 24 weeks, and every two weeks after because of regular contractions and a shorter-than- he-would-like cervix.. as well as barely making it to term with my second pregnancy. As of yesterday, my cervix is super soft but closed and if he puts even the slightest pressure he can feel baby’s head. 
My first pregnancy I had no complications and didn’t have a cervical check until about 36 weeks. It really just depends on complications and risks.
