College advice

Has anyone failed a class or had a overall bad semester in college? I’m a college freshman and I can say my first semester was pretty bad. My schedule was all over the place and I didn’t do good. I lost motivation , I was depressed & just lost unfocused but for the spring term I’m ready to go back full effect. My head is back on my shoulders and I’m ready to work. I know I failed chemistry for sure not so sure about my other classes, probably not. A lady in my chemistry class failed as well so that was her 2nd time in the class. She retook it. Can you do that? Can you fail & just retake the class before graduating? My school is a 2 year and then u transfer so basically a community college. My major is nursing
