Can someone fill me in , in what a bridal shower is?

Well my aunt was telling me we should all go (myself bride, all my ladies who will be involved in my wedding) we can all go out and have a drink or go eat somewhere. My wedding is literally next month I didn’t have enough time to plan anything nice or nothing for us to go anywhere. We literally just planned our wedding in 3 MO. The best option is literally just go out somewhere. It wasn’t something I was going to do totally forgot about considering I still have a few things to finish (wedding). So I was thinking of inviting them and we can just go out somewhere out to eat or have a drink. We are all going to pitch in for the food. Does that sound like a bad idea?
