Adventures in breastfeeding
Hi Everyone,
My daughter is now almost two weeks old and despite the benefits I know it has to her, I absolutely hate breastfeeding. My nipples hurt all the time and look like they have been beaten within an inch of their life. Despite being correctly latched, the first moments she latches on hurts me tremendously. She drains a bottle very quickly, but I’d rather feed her from the breast so we can continue to strengthen our bond together and, to be honest, not have to clean bottles and pumping equipment. Also, giving her the bottle ensures she gets the right amount whereas it’s a guessing game as to how much she gets when breastfeeding. She’s putting out a ton of diapers, so it seems like she’s getting enough but she screams bloody murder at night because she’s hungry even after half an hour or more of breastfeeding off of both breasts. Then she gets into bouts of cluster feeding where it seems like every half hour I’m breastfeeding her. In sum, does anyone have any advice on making the pain, on all fronts, more bearable or eliminating it completely? Thanks in advance.
