How often should a couple see each other?

How often should a couple that doesn’t live together see each other?
Due to our schedules being so different I only see my boyfriend once or twice a week. Would that be considered abnormal for a relationship? 
I don’t mind not seeing him everyday but I just want other people’s opinions and experiences!

We live together now but before it varies. Sometimes 2-3 time a week plus weekends, sometimes just weekends
