Labor with Nitrous Oxide?

Question

The hospital where I'll be delivering just started offering Nitrous for pain relief during labor and delivery.
Has anyone that's already given birth used this method? The nurse in our class said you would have the mask throughout labor and it can be used whenever the mother wants but especially during a contraction.
I'm at FTM and after seeing my sister experience some complications from her epidural I'm looking into other pain management options during labor and delivery.

I’d prefer an epidural, I think, because your consciousness/clarity is still fully intact. I don’t want to feel loopy or out of it.

It did nothing for me but I was on high level pitocin with contractions on top of each other with no break in between. I used it for a couple hours until I was eligible/dilated enough to have an epidural and then got that. But my labor was not a normal one. Hard to say how it would have went without the pitocin.

I’ve only had it at the dentist and it makes me feel like I’m going to puke. But you could always try it and if you don’t like it then don’t use it anymore.

I had the gas for my last birth from transition. It helped with my breathing and took a slight edge of the pain, other than that it didn't do too much. Some people get really nauseous on it, I was lucky I got no unwanted effects

The birth center where I go offers this! I plan on using it since it’s literally the only intervention offered besides a birthing pool and fluid IV

Ive used it on all of my previous labours. It doesn’t take any pain away but makes you relax a little. You take some deep breaths of it at the start of a contraction, it makes your mouth very dry though so make sure you keep sipping water whenever you can
