Dangerous, selfish gender reveals!

*Rant warning!*

I think gender reveal parties are super fun but lately it seems like I've been reading news stories every other day about people doing crazier and crazier things to reveal the gender of their baby in a "unique" way.

Just the other day I read an article about a couple who had a box of colored explosives to reveal their gender, and it ended up catching the treea near the party on fire and it burned down 17 miles of forest!

A few weeks ago I saw that a couple who was expecting a boy decided to dye the inside of a watermelon blue and put it in a crocodile's mouth to chomp it open. Only the croc didn't want to chomp it, so the father started hitting the animal and pushing it's mouth closed.

Wtf?! I know this isn't the norm but it's really making me wonder how people nowadays want to signify the start of their child's life. Is it really about the new human you have created, or is is about getting attention? How will your baby feel when she is 9 years old and finds out her gender reveal burned down 17 miles of forest...

Ugh. Sorry. End rant!
