cuts turning white

heyy! i started self harming for two years ago and my cuts used to turn into white scars within a month. after relapsing around three months ago, i have about ten scars that are still a dark red. does anyone know why this happens or how long it will take for these to fade/turn white? i’m assuming it’s because i’m older and have maybe cut deeper now but i’m unsure.
