Being tested for herpes
My husband and I are TTC. Exactly two weeks ago, I had a chemical pregnancy which was confirmed at my OBGYN appointment. He also did my annual exam because I was due soon anyway, and all tests came back negative for HPV, Pap smear, etc. He told me there is no use waiting to TTC because you’re most fertile after a miscarriage.
We had sex last week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Thursday, I noticed pain when peeing and one small bump. Come Saturday, there were many painful bumps. Freaking out (I’m 30 and have never had a UTI, yeast infection, anything) I went to MedExpress since my gyno was closed.
At MedExpress, they diagnosed me with folliculitis and prescribed doxycycline.
Today I finally had an appointment with a different doctor at my OBGYN, and she said she thinks it’s herpes but won’t know for sure until the results of the culture she swabbed today come back later this week. She said she thinks it could be from my husband, but he didn’t have a cold sore or anything in the last 4 years we’ve been together.
What’s up? What should I expect if this is really herpes? How often are outbreaks? Does Valtrex alone do the trick? I’m so worried.
