This isn't allowed right?

Question

So today my daughter came home from school chanting a song.
"The earth, The air, The fire, The water Return Return Return." 
When I googled it, it came up as a sacred pagan/Wicca song. 
A teacher taught her this in school.
That's not allowed right!? 
I don't think it is but I just want to double check here.

I would not be OK with that. You can't sing Jesus loves me with the kids in a public school, but you can sing wiccan songs to them? To each their own, that's how I would feel about that....

We talked to her, apparently she's been doing this for 12 years. The way she explained it seems innocent. She clearly knew where the song came from & also said that her teachings are inspired by Waldorf schooling. She took 0 offense from our questioning her about it. She explained it nicely & said that my daughter & all the othe children have 3 choices while she is singing the songs, to sing along, hum along or to be silent. She doesn't have to sing it. I expect my daughter will still end up singing it anyways though because she is 5 & the songs are catchy. All is good.

no it isn't.  All schools are supposed to be religion free.  I would approach the teacher first though and talk to her.  It is possible she is teaching all religions.

Weird. I mean I wouldn't dream of teaching a group of kids and JW music.. I think that is entering that point where parents need to have choice on what and what is not taught to their kids. Just as some don't want to teach their child about things like abortion until they are older, some will not want their child learning religion. 
I think this teacher may not realise what this song is based on. 
Talk to her and give her a warning that if anything like that continues happening you will be reporting it to her boss.

You can learn about religions, thats an actual study. It's part of world cultures, world history, even art and music. I think it's ok to learn about other people and other beliefs. They cannot encourage a religion to be practiced or encourage a religion to be true or untrue.

You don't know entirely what was going on. I suggest not jumping to conclusions. One of my elementary teachers liked to sing little hymns when we were out on the play ground. There's no rule about singing to yourself, and if a kid decided to join in and learn it than good for them. They're broadening their perspectives.

We learned Christmas and Easter songs in my public school, and I see no difference. Lots of songs are good for teaching about things, and there are lots of religions in the world to learn about.
