Preterm Contractions But Everything's Ok

So I've been having lots of Braxton Hicks lately, but starting last night/early this morning they started to feel way more uncomfortable. To the point where I woke up at 1:30 am and spent the next hour walking around, drinking water, resting while the BH's kept coming every 5 min or so. Plus I was feeling menstrual-type crampiness in my lower abdomen and aches in my upper thighs, which was totally new and caused me to worry more than usual.
They finally seemed to subside a bit so I went back to sleep. This morning I had a scheduled fetal assessment/growth checkup, so I went to that and planned on getting checked out for preterm labor right after, since I was still having pretty uncomfortable BH's. So the appointment went fine (both babies are growing normally), though I was pretty uncomfortable the whole time.
Then I walked over to Labor and Delivery (hubby was with me too) to get checked out. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't in preterm labor, and better safe than sorry, right?
Long story short, I wasn't having early labor, my cervix is still closed and not effaced at all. Just lots of early contractions. They hooked me up to an IV to give me fluids and monitored my contractions and the babies' activity for 2 hours. The contractions slowly started to slow down and spread out a bit, although I continued to get them occasionally after they lete go. Oh, and they found that I have a yeast infection, which is lovely, and could be a reason for all this.
And I just have to say, having my cervix checked via speculum and then manually was sooooo not pleasant, I couldn't believe it. And I say this as someone who, pre-pregnancy, hardly flinched during Pap smears and all those infertility transvaginal ultrasounds. It felt like I had a completely different vagina. Sooo weird 😁
But basically everything is fine, and the nurses and doctor were great and patient, and encouraged me to come in literally anytime things feel off or too intense to get checked out. I'm 29 weeks today, and I'm trying to make it to 37, so these babies definitely need more time to cook 😊 Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share my crazy morning with you guys!
