What should people really know about an industry that you have worked in?
I recently read an account of an escort, who opened up about the secrets of the industry she worked in. I would share it, but it's a really long read. But she described how pimps still exist for escorts, the different types of clients she encounters and why they cheat on their partners, common fetishes, etc.
It got me wondering about 'secrets’ in other industries.
When I was younger, I worked in the beauty industry. I hated it. I put my friend forward for a job and they turned her down, by outright saying that she isn't attractive enough, which was gross. There’s also that the beauty industry loves and caters to white skin. Everyone else should count their blessings and be grateful when something is made available to their skin tones. This especially applies to major designer brands, who consider catering for Asian skin tones if the brand really takes off. And they'd expect a good number of years of success before even thinking about black skin tones. If ever. And I've never done this myself, but I've seen many MUAs reuse brushes from one client to the next - and believe me, on some occasions, if you'd encountered the previous client, you wouldn't let them use the brushes on you if they were washed.. 😣
So, what are some things about an industry you've worked in, that people don't often know or realise?
Really not looking forward to hearing about the food industry! 😭
