I hate my OB practice (long rant)
So I had an appointment today at the OB office; let me start by saying everything is fine, just peachy. My due date was 8/18, so I was scheduled to have an NST done. The test was scheduled at 1:15. I didn't get called in until 2:30. This is a regular occurrence there lately, every time I go in I wait in the waiting room for an hour (at least, no matter which of the three doctors in the practice I see), then wait in the tiny doctor-patient room for some time too. I can understand this happening once or twice, but I kid you not, it's Every. Damn. Time.
People in the waiting room chat, and it turns out that two other women were scheduled to see the doctor I was seeing at 1:15 as well. They triple booked him. I was not told when I came in that there would be a wait, I never am. I'm always there on time. It's aggravating, especially when I'm so pregnant and I have to go every week.
They took me in to do a regular appointment first. Everything was fine, my blood pressure, weight, baby's heart rate, the measurement of my belly. All fine. I expressed my uncomfortable-ness to the doc (can't sleep, can't eat, can't walk, etc), and pointed out my swollen ankles. He said everything is normal and my BP has never been high so it's not preeclampsia, just symptoms of being pregnant in the summer. He said "let's do the NST now to see how the baby is and possibly a sonogram if we can fit you in and we'll talk inductions when we look at the NST results."
Okay.
NST went fine, baby's doing great. Boring test. Doctor says, "everything looks okay but I understand you're really uncomfortable, and we don't like letting moms go over 10 days past due". They wanted to do a sonogram today (just to get a guess on his size), one on Monday, and if I haven't delivered by then they'll induce me on Tuesday.
I was SO excited, finally an ending date to all this crazyness, I'd get to see my baby no later than Tuesday!!!
But... wait.
Doctor comes back in the room not even two minutes later and says "I've looked at your chart, and your due date is wrong" I stared blankly back at him. I went for anatomy scans at 20-21 weeks four times because they couldn't see something (they wouldn't tell me what, just had me come in numerous times to get a better scan of his brain) I asked if my due date was accurate because I was given a window when I first got pregnant and I heard that at the 20 week anatomy scan they can pinpoint a real due date based on size and whatever. The doctor there told me it was too late to change the due date and that the 18th was accurate. She told me this at 21 weeks. Now he's telling me at 40 weeks that my due date was incorrect this whole time. My new due date is August 21. So not only am I not overdue, I'm not even due. And he can't/won't induce me on Tuesday.
Three doctors (four if you count the specialist I saw for that special anatomy scan) have been looking at my chart all this time and they only caught this incorrect date now. A MAJOR oversight in my opinion.
It's only a few days difference, so it doesn't change much. But I am no longer happy with these doctors, and I will be looking for a new OB practice after I have this kid. I might change my mind on this, but for now it's how I feel.
They couldn't fit me in for the sonogram today (maybe they triple booked them too) so I have to go back tomorrow afternoon. Then my next appointment after that is on Thursday (the 27th) for another NST and sonogram.
No induction, no progress, nothing new. Just bullshit. In fact, it's kind of a step backwards.
Thanks for letting me rant. Now I'm gonna change the due date in Glow.... 😓
