Broken Heart and Broken Spirit.

So my boyfriend and I broke up Dec 8, and I’ve been having to live with him until I can get back to my moms. He says he cant love anyone until he loves himself but some of things he does and says makes me believe that he does love and is scared. His last relationship was of 7 years on and off. they have two kids together and they loved to hurt each other. He says he still misses her(she’s already moved on). I’m having a absolute hard time separating my emotions of love and friendship. Any advice will help!
